No trees are cut to make our product. We use coconuts. After a coconut has been harvested a new one grows in its place, so it is 100% renewable.
Pot in Pot system: plant the germinated seed or cutting into the plug – smallest pot, and then insert into the next largest pot as the plant outgrows it. Continue this process until the largest pot (3 gallon).
How it works: The roots grow through the pot and are air pruned. The plant then compensates by growing more roots that grow through the pot rather than in circles with a plastic pot.
The result is a fibrous root system which will produce better yields.
Initially the plant will grow at a slower pace than plants in plastic. This is because it is using up energy to produce more roots. (See photo)
Once the plant is in the next pot, the roots grow through the pot since there is no air but soil. They will grow through until they reach the walls of the larger pot. Once the season is over the pot can be buried into the garden or composted. It will become organic matter.
